Recently I partcipated in the 2011 National Limestone Sculpture Symposium, held at Mount Gambier,S.A. Mount Gambier Community Events Inc and the City of Mount Gambier hosted the 2011 National Limestone Sculpture Symposium in the grounds of the Old Gaol Precinct, Mt. Gambier.
THe Symposium was a significant contemporary visual arts event that engaged artists and the broader community in exploration of Mount Gambier coralline limestone. The Symposium provided opportunites to create new sculptural work, develop concepts and provide chance for mentorships, skills development and critical debate about public art.
The Symposium was a unique professional development opportunity for artists to work alongside and be guided by reocgnised guest artists such as, Silvio Applnyi, Stephen Newton and Kevin Free.
I had a wonderful experience, hanging out with beautiful souls, creating, smiling, glowing, learning, growing, sculpting. As it is a bi-annual event, I look forward to participating again in 2013.
